A little about me

As of 2023 I’m 60 something, ‘older, but still growing’, and bearing witness to the climate catastrophe happening around us, breathing deeply and attempting to go with grace into that unknown future.

Since Covid I work in safe ways that work best for both of us, depending of course on what any “current rules” may or may not permit or allow. So that can be anything from ‘in person’ (with agreed measures to address risk as required) or by phone or by a one of the video platforms such as Zoom, Skype, Whatapp or Telegram – all available as ‘apps’ or on a PC or Mac.

I’ve been seeing people as a counsellor/psychotherapist since 2003, including working at the Nottingham Priory as a drug and addictions therapist (for a short while) when it was an addictions treatment centre, and then as a volunteer at the Nottingham Counselling Service, and I’ve seen a fairly broad range of people, working with a fairly broad range of issues, from weight to worry (aka anxiety), from isolation and loneliness to feeling overwhelmed and swamped by others, and over the last few years, working with people who identify a neuro-diverse, autistic spectrum or ADHD – see here for resources: ADHD Counselling UK.

I trained at Temenos, starting in 1998, and I ensure I undergo regular ‘Continuing Professional Development’, and am, of course, in supervision.

I’ve worked with all kinds of people, from young adults to people of my own age and older, from people in the armed forces, the police, the NHS, students, professionals and, well, as I say, all kinds of people.

The way I work is ‘person centered’ as per Carl Rogers, and I’m an accredited member of the National Counselling Society and listed on Psychology Today.
